Workers' Compensation
What is workers' compensation?
Workers' compensation is an Illinois law that protects workers when they are injured at work. Your employer has workers' compensation insurance to pay the benefits to which you are entitled.
What benefits am I entitled to?
When you are eligible for workers' compensation benefits, the insurance company is required to pay for your medical care at 100%, with no out of pocket costs to you. If you miss work due to your injuries, you are entitled to compensation for your lost time. If you suffer a permanent impairment as a result of your injuries, you are entitled to permanent partial disability, commonly referred to as a settlement. If you suffer a career ending injury, workers' compensation can pay for retraining so you can re-enter the work force.
Do I need to hire a lawyer?
In a perfect world, the insurance company will pay the benefits to which you are legally entitled. However, we do not live in a perfect world. Insurance companies will often attempt to deny legitimate claims or downplay your injuries, denying you crucial medical care and time off work to recover from your injuries. When this happens, it is important to hire an experienced workers' compensation attorney to represent your interests. I NEVER charge you up front to represent you, and instead I only get paid when we win!
Personal Injury
What is personal injury?
Personal injury claims occur when you are injured due to someone else's negligence. Common personal injury claims include motor vehicle accidents, slip and falls, and medical malpractice.
What benefits am I entitled to?
When you are injured due to someone else's negligence, an attorney can help you obtain the benefits to which you are entitled. These can include payment for your medical bills, lost wages, money for future medical care, and compensation for your pain and suffering.
Do I need to hire a lawyer?
When you are injured due to someone else's negligence, it is important to hire a lawyer as soon as possible after your injury. A lawyer can help handle your claim for you and maximize your compensation. Most of these claims are settled out of court, and an experienced attorney can identify the benefits you are entitled to and negotiate with the insurance company on your behalf. When a case is not settled out of court, your lawyer can pursue your case in court and bring your case to trial.
